Writings from a Kootenay Korner

I have returned. Have meant many times to sit down and blog but life somehow keeps gettin' in the way. Wait a minute! I think I'm supposed to be blogging about life in general. It's not that I don't intend to write but, it gets put on the bottom of the todo list. Work, travel, and procrastination seem to stop me but that's another story hey!!

Spring has left us here and summer has kicked in with a vengance. Temps are hitting 33 - 35 (and up) degrees which mean a follow-up with a kick ass electrical storms. We are becoming famous for them here which also creates a dreadful fire season. My son Mark and his girlfriend Paola got to view one a couple weeks ago while visiting from Ottawa (where they reside). We spent a good hour out on our covered sun-deck at 10:30 at night witnessing this amazing spectacle. Mother nature is a pretty amazing thing. We actually spent a few world wind days running them around to some of our favorite places.

Very much enjoyed their visit (although it was much to short) we went up to one of our favorite camping places and then a whirlwind drive to Nanaimo to visit with family and friends there. At least some of them are considered family, personally I don't believe they fall into that category any longer. Some habits die hard with my son but I guess the sacrifice of visiting with the actual family members was worth the (free) accommodation. I think he will find out that the cost was much higher than he realizes. (I hope you read this and ask me one day Mark)
