Writings from a Kootenay Korner

Well, I've been remiss. Have started a post several times, had trouble inserting pictures (which turn a humdrum blog into a much more imaginative glimpse into our little everyday adventures, get pissed off then quit. So here goes again ha ha! Have had a wonderful summer, work has picked up for us (we are owner/operators of a lottery kiosk in our (Ha Ha!) main mall here in Cranbrook. It is a challenge at times but also very entertaining. Lots of nice people to chat with they all have their stories and enjoy sharing with me. Some of them I would love to take home. They need such nurturing. Some just need an ear to hear them. Man, maybe I am watching too much Dr. Phil.

Camping this year was amazing! My grandson Aden told me several years ago that we were no longer real campers (we have purchased a travel trailer with real bathroom). Real campers only use tents. Out of the mouths of babes! After watching this fellow swim across the lake (yes that is a grizzly bear!) I was very happy to have my trailer and not a tent. At least I can hear the racket while he peels open the wall to eat me.

We have several places that we like to visit. All forestry sites with little or no people, but our favorite is Summer Lake. Two-hour drive up very rough logging roads, with steep and sometimes treacherous cutaways but worth the effort.

There is nothing like it for R & R and some of the best lake trout anywhere. This is coming from a non-fish eating person. I am very selective with fish and was amazed at how wonderful these guys are.

I'm not much of a fisher person yet, but will try it a little more next year. My idea of camping is to enjoy the scenery in my camp chair with a good book or my current cross-stitch project. I'll probably try to take some lap quilting next season. Absolutely the best trip would be to take my daughter and her family up here. I know they would enjoy it immensely. Hint! Hint! Krista Anyway I will close this entry with a last look at our favorite spot. Pardon me, I will not close with the pic but will open a new entry as blogger is not cooperating again. Does anyone know if you are limited to two pics per post? It only seems to allow me two? Anyway ta ta for now.

  • Yay you started up again! I too have trouble with pictures and haven't figured out why all pictures do not post. There must be a technique I am missing. If I figure it out I will pass along my knowledge. Beautiful pictures by the way, especially the sunset one.
